CD & VCD Spectrometers

Chiroptical spectroscopy has become one of the most important techniques for the characterization of biomolecules, determination of absolute configuration and stereochemical analysis. Since launching our first spectropolarimeter in 1961, JASCO has designed and built the finest in chiroptical instrumentation.

More than a half-century later, JASCO proudly presents the J-1000 series, our latest circular dichroism spectrometers. Unparalleled optical performance and available measurement modes are combined to make the J-1000 CD spectrometers true state-of-the-art chiroptical spectroscopy workbenches.

Circular Dichroism Spectrophotometer

J-1000 Series comprises three distinct models covering the entire spectrum from the far-UV (163 nm) to the near-IR (2500 nm), including High Throughput CD platform HTCD Plus. JASCO also offers a Vibrational Circular Dichroism spectrometer able to measure both IR absorption and VCD, and provides accurate and highly sensitive measurement in the fingerprint region. It also has several unique features such as a wide measurement range option of 4,000-750 cm-1. with a choice of detectors.

System Features

Enhanced vacuum-UV measurement

The innovative optical system of the J-1500 and J-1700 permits the measurement of a CD spectrum in the vacuum-UV region down to 163 nm. The vacuum-UV region below 200 nm is of critical importance for biomolecules, particularly in protein secondary structure estimation.

Rapid scanning

High sensitivity combined with a 10,000 nm/min maximum scan speed allows the J-1500 and J-1700 to measure samples quickly, increasing productivity in your lab. An additional benefit is the minimal time exposure of biological samples to the high energy UV light, minimizing the risk of sample degradation.

Highest S/N Performance

The high S/N (signal-to-noise) performance of the J-1000 series is achieved by a high throughput optical system and low-noise signal processing. The RMS Noise < 0.004 mdeg (185 nm) for the J-1500 and J-1700 are currently the best in the market.

Simultaneous multi-probe measurement

The latest quad-channel lock-in amplifier provides the simultaneous acquisition of up to four data channels including CD, absorbance, linear dichroism (LD), fluorescence, fluorescence-detected CD (FDCD), fluorescence-detected LD (FDLD) and fluorescence anisotropy.

IQ Accessory

A comprehensive selection of sampling accessories for liquid and solid samples are available for many dedicated sampling applications. Automatic accessory recognition matches the measurement program to the attached sampling accessory.

Regulatory Compliance

Spectra Manager™ 2.5 Suite for Windows (with optional 21 CFR part 11 compliance) for comprehensive control, acquisition, and data processing. For GxP compliant laboratories, instrument validation protocols to USP, EP, and JP are included as standard. IQ/OQ support is also available.

Automated Protein Screening

The evaluation of secondary and tertiary structure is important in quality testing of protein and peptide based biologics. Circular dichroism (CD) is sensitive to a biomolecule’s asymmetry and is ideal for pharmaceutical stability and processing studies, where even slight changes to the molecule or its environment can induce structural changes, altering its function. While CD measurements are known to be quick and easy to perform, the high throughput system dramatically increases the amount of data obtained with automated measurements using two 96-well microplates and 120 vials.
